ENTRY #9 Abducted boy found alive in Las Vegas

Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081019/ap_on_re_us/nevada_boy_abducted

LAS VEGAS – A 6-year-old boy kidnapped from a Las Vegas home by alleged drug dealers posing as policemen has been found alive in a neighborhood northeast of the Las Vegas Strip, police said.

Cole Puffinburger was recovered at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after a citizen informed detectives about a child walking the streets, Las Vegas police Officer Jay Rivera said. He said the child appeared healthy.

Cole was abducted Wednesday morning at gunpoint by men who tied up the boy's mother and her boyfriend and ransacked their home.

Authorities arrested Cole's grandfather Clemens Tinnemeyer late Friday in connection with the boy's disappearance.

Police believe that the abductors were Mexican drug dealers and that the kidnapping at gunpoint was a "message" to Tinnemeyer, 51, whom they said may have stolen millions of dollars from dealers.

Tinnemeyer was arrested in Riverside, Calif., and was being held in nearby San Bernardino on a material witness warrant issued by a federal court in Nevada.

Officer Cris Johnson, a Las Vegas police spokesman, declined to say what role Tinnemeyer played in the drug operation or whether the kidnappers had been seeking a ransom.

Police believe methamphetamine was involved, Johnson said.

Las Vegas police didn't know Saturday whether Tinnemeyer had a lawyer. He was scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate Monday in Riverside.

Authorities investigating the abduction were also focussing on two other men, including a Mexican citizen identified as Jesus Gastelum.

Gastelum, who is in his mid-30s, is believed to be in Las Vegas or Southern California, police said. The other "person of interest" was not identified.

("Abducted cases just not happened in our country,Malaysia.Just like we know, the missing of poor Adik Sharlinie that had been not found yet.But the abducted case that happened in others country I think the percentage is more high that happens in Malaysia. In above article, the 6 year old kid was kidnapped by drug dealer that can be describe as the dangerous person. But fortunately, the kid has been found safely.I think may be,the drug dealer think,if the kid is still with him,it will be more risk for them. But the in Adik Sharlinie case,I don't think it would be the drug dealers but still we hope we can found Adik Sharlinie and the other poors kid that has been missing too. After so many missing case that happens, parents should be more careful to their child. Moreover, when parents take their child to the playing park or other places that have a high risk to the children to walk, parents should not take their eyes from them and always alert to them.If this step is taken by many parents, this will make the missing case will be decrease.")

ENTRY #8 Safari For Windows

Source : http://www.maxit.com.my/articles.php?active_page=article_details&type=FEATURE-IT&category_id=&category_name=&article_id=14

The article is about the new Safari for Windows.Safari is one of the internet browser.Actually it is always use exclusively for Mac, Apple. But now Safari also now can be use for windows user.On June 17,2007, Safari was released for windows user like Windows XP and Windows Vista.Because of Safari is made by Apple.Inc , it released for the windows with the hope that the window users could attract to get a Mac.Unfortunately, there are already other browers for windows users such as Internet Explorer,Mozzila Firefox and Opera. So, it will be difficult for Apple Inc. to attract the windows user. But the Safari have it own advantage for example, it only need a little space of ram only and have a nice view. But still I think that not enough for attract the windows user. The Apple Inc. should improve the Safari like make it more safety and we surf the internet it will be more fast from the other browser. If it can be, for sure the windows user will use the Safari but to buy the Mac?? I don't think so because we know that Mac,Apple is so expensive than the windows.Only a curtain people will use the Mac,Apple such as a graphic designer.

ENTRY #7 10 Reasons Not to Skimp on Sleep

ource : http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/living-well-usn/2008/10/16/10-reasons-not-to-skimp-on-sleep.html

("Too busy to go to bed? Having trouble getting quality sleep once you do? Your health may be at risk.I'm interesting went read the article because I actually a person who always sleep late and sometimes will not go to sleep. In that article it give ten reasons not to skimp on sleep. The reasons are:

1) Less may mean more. For people who sleep under seven hours a night, the fewer zzzz's they get, the more obese they tend to be, according to a 2006 Institute of Medicine report. This may relate to the discovery that insufficient sleep appears to tip hunger hormones out of whack. Leptin, which suppresses appetite, is lowered; ghrelin, which stimulates appetite, gets a boost.

2) You're more apt to make bad food choices. A study published this week in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that people with obstructive sleep apnea or other severely disordered breathing while asleep ate a diet higher in cholesterol, protein, total fat, and total saturated fat. Women were especially affected.

3) Diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance, its precursor, may become more likely. A 2005 study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that people getting five or fewer hours of sleep each night were 2.5 times more likely to be diabetic, while those with six hours or fewer were 1.7 times more likely.

4) The ticker is put at risk. A 2003 study found that heart attacks were 45 percent more likely in women who slept for five or fewer hours per night than in those who got more.

5) Blood pressure may increase. Obstructive sleep apnea, for example, has been associated with chronically elevated daytime blood pressure, and the more severe the disorder, the more significant the hypertension, suggests the 2006 IOM report. Obesity plays a role in both disorders, so losing weight can ease associated health risks.

6) Auto accidents rise. As stated in a 2007 report in the New England Journal of Medicine, nearly 20 percent of serious car crash injuries involve a sleepy driver—and that's independent of alcohol use.

7) Balance is off. Older folks who have trouble getting to sleep, who wake up at night, or are drowsy during the day could be 2 to 4.5 times more likely to sustain a fall, found a 2007 study in the Journal of Gerontology.

8) You may be more prone to depression. Adults who chronically operate on fumes report more mental distress, depression, and alcohol use. Adolescents suffer, too: One survey of high school students found similarly high rates of these issues. Middle schools students, too, report more symptoms of depression and lower self-esteem.

9) Kids may suffer more behavior problems. Research from an April issue of the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found that children who are plagued by insomnia, short duration of sleeping, or disordered breathing with obesity, for example, are more likely to have behavioral issues like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

10) Death's doorstep may be nearer. Those who get five hours or less per night have approximately 15 percent greater risk of dying—regardless of the cause—according to three large population-based studies published in the journals Sleep and the Archives of General Psychiatry.

The ten reasons make me deeply thinks because there are so many side effects to our body if we not take enough sleep. It may be short our life too.The conclusion is, we must make sure that we take the enough sleep for our self and also not too overdo the sleep.")

ENTRY #6 Face-Off: AMD Puma vs. Intel Centrino 2

Source : http://www.laptopmag.com/features/mobile-life/face-off-amd-puma-vs-intel-centrino-2.aspx?page=1

/uploadedImages/Multimedia_Assets/Images/2008/Reviews/head-to-head/intel-amd_sh.jpgIt's no secret that Intel has soared while AMD has stumbled through the past year. In fact, as of press time AMD's worldwide share of the notebook microprocessor market had sunk to a paltry 12.6 percent compared to Intel's 86.5 percent. That's a dramatic fall-off from a high of 18.9 percent in the third quarter of 2007. Part of the problem is that AMD is still working to integrate the recently acquired ATI, but whatever the reasons, Intel has forged ahead with smaller and more power-efficient 45-nanometer processors while AMD has been stuck churning out 65nm chips for what now seems like eons.

On the other hand, in many cases, systems with AMD inside are considerably cheaper than their Intel Centrino–powered counterparts. For instance, we surveyed the price difference between three notebooks available with both Puma and Centrino 2 and found, on average, that Centrino 2 notebooks cost $217 more than Puma ones with all other components being equal. Each company claims to offer superior integrated graphics, battery life, 802.11n wireless strength, and improved overall performance. That's nice, you say, but which is better?

To find out, we decided to put the two platforms to the test. To do this, we used two notebooks, identically configured with the exception of their CPU, graphics card, and wireless radio. These 15.4-inch systems had 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard drives, integrated graphics, and DVD burners with Blu-ray. Our Centrino 2 system was powered by 2.26-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 CPU and Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 4500, while the Puma machine had a 2.2-GHz AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-82 CPU and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card.

(" AMD's Puma and Intel's Centrino 2 both live up to most of their promises. While both platforms claim to offer better battery life, snappier overall performance, and long-range Wi-Fi, they have been particularly aggressive in their claims that their integrated graphics cards allow for superior gaming performance and HD playback. Because neither platform sweeps each of these contests, the platform you choose depends on your priorities, and what kind of user you are.")
